Carpet Is Going In

Matt Glewwe lays down some carpet squares in the hallway next to the old Music Office while Kyle Factor looks on.

Bill Heinemann lays carpet next to the new lift.

Harold and Joy Lang put down some carpet squares in the new storage closet next to the lift.

Bathrooms

Matt Glewwe applies grout to the tile in the new handicapped accessible bathrooms.

True to form, Kyle Factor supervises and critiques Matt's work.

Then Kyle get his hands dirty too. If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself, eh Kyle?

Go Ye Into All The World...

The main wall in the entryway of the old narthex bore the inscription "Go ye into all the world..." That wood was carefully removed from the wall and saved in order to create what you see below. This wall will also serve as a sliding door that will close off the rest of the building during the week, making the office area the main point of entry during business hours.

Bricks Are Almost Done

Crews lay the final bricks on the South face of the new addition.

The North, South, and East faces of the addition are now completely covered in brick. Only the new link remains.

Bricklaying

The bricks on the west face of the addition are now up to about 7 feet at the highest point.

Workers began to lay bricks on the north face of the addition on Friday.

Owen Glewwe looks on through the windows as the bricklaying crew goes to work.

A large and long scaffold has been constructed in order to lay bricks on the higher parts of the wall, which will start next week.

Sweeping

Sweeping on the construction site is dirty work. With so much dust in the air, it's hard to see how he's even making any progress!

Bricks

Crews began to apply the brick exterior to the west face of the addition this morning.

More Digging

More digging had to be done to continue to connect the church's new water service for the sprinkler system. Pipes will be laid in these ditches and connected to the water supply in the street.

Carpet and Asbestos

The main carpet in the narthex and nursery wing hallway was removed. Special crews were called in to abate the asbestos that existed in the tiles underneath the carpet. Pictured below is just some of the equipment that was brought in for the asbestos abatement.

Here are the nursery hallway and main narthex with nothing but concrete floors.
