Construction: Day 23

As you can see, the front entryway is off limits at the moment...

...because of the hole in front if it that is 5 feet deep.

Construction: Day 22 Pt. II

Bill Heinemann, and Chris and Daniel Patrick remove the sheetrock from the walls of the Pastor's Study. The picture looks grainy because the camera captured all the dust in the air.

The stripped down, bare-bones, carpet-less Pastor's Study.

The excavator showed up after dark to begin to clear away more earth.

The sidewalk leading to the main entryway comes up.

Construction: Day 22

The Pastor's Study on Day 22. Pretty much the only thing left is the carpet, and that is on its way out!

The "ceiling" of the Pastor's Study.

Daniel Patrick and Bill Heinemann remove light fixtures from the nursery hallway.

Construction: Day 21

Bill Heinemann and Ray Glewwe dismantle the desk and credenza in the Pastor's Study.

Sparks fly as Bill removes nails from wood that is being kept and reused.

Construction: Days 16 & 17

There were no pictures posted on Day 16 because there was nothing to see. All of the work took place under the warming "tents." The tents came off on Day 17, however, and you can easily see all the progress that was made.

The southern exterior wall now stands about 5 1/2 feet tall.

Beginning to lay the blocks for the northern exterior wall.

The exterior walls are beginning to come together.

Construction: Days 14 & 15

The site has been completely backfilled as of Day 15. The stacks of concrete blocks are for the exterior (above ground) walls.

Another picture of the backfilled work site. The location of the elevator is on the lower left. The "tent" on the left hand side is where the builders are currently working, laying blocks to create the southern wall of the new addition.

Ceiling panels are removed in the Nursery Wing for inspections and to make plans for the church's new sprinkler system.

More filling and smoothing on Day 14

Construction: Day 13

Ray Glewwe goes to work waterproofing cement blocks.

Backfilling began today. The small Bobcat in the picture worked to remove the snow from the site, and the excavator began filling it in with dirt.

The excavator drops the dirt and the Bobcat runs over it a few times and smooths it out.

The heavy machinery was quite often in what seemed to be precarious positions, but everyone stayed safe. Please be praying for the safety of the workers as they do their jobs.

Construction: Day 12

Prepping for more concrete blocks.

Waterproofing the concrete blocks after they have been cemented in place. These blocks will be buried underground, so it is important that they remain free of moisture.

The footings are closed to finished. Backfilling will begin this week.

More evidence of the recent blizzard.

Monday, December 13, 2010

Construction: Day 11

A blizzard blew through the Twin Cities over the weekend, leaving 18 inches of snow on the ground and on the construction site. But work continues! Here's the snowed-in construction site on Monday morning, December 13.

Even the equipment needs to be "dug out."

High winds and cold temperatures came after blizzard, making for sub-zero wind chill temperatures and curved icicles like these.

Construction: Days 9 & 10

Cutting through the slabs on top of the entryway.

Removing the slabs.

Entryway: not much left!

And now it's gone.

Progress on the footings continues...

Construction: Day 8

Progress on the entryway.

Another peek under the tarp. A lot of progress since yesterday!
